Apple has done it again! From seven generations of ipods to six generations of iphones, Apple has created something they have never done before. The Apple watch gives you a complete picture of our all day activity. The watch shows your daily progress and helps motivate you to sit less, move more, and get some exercise. It is also an advanced sports watch, giving you real time stats for a variety of the most popular workouts.

Over time, Apple Watch learns your activity and fitness levels. Apple Watch measures all the ways you move, such as walking the dog, taking the stairs, or playing with your kids. It even keeps track of when you stand up and encourages you to keep moving. Not only can the watch do all these amazing things, it can also support glucose monitoring for people living with diabetes.

Dexcom is a company that develops, manufactures, and distributes continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs) for diabetes management. Dexcom is teaming up with Apple to create two mobile apps that will allow users of its G4 PLATINUM Glucose Monitor System to track everything straight from the Apple Watch. Not only can the individual enjoy this feature but also invite others such as family members and doctors to monitor the data from their own Apple Watch as well.

Most of you know, the standard way of checking and monitoring your glucose is a finger prick. A process that is inconvenient and generates only isolated readings. Continuous glucose monitoring is considered the most significant breakthrough in diabetes management offer up to 255 blood glucose readings per day.

According to 9to5mac.com, the Dexcom CGM that will pair with Apple Watch, the G4 PLATINUM Glucose Monitor System, requires users to embed a sensor just underneath their skin and attach a small Bluetooth LTE receiver to transmit the data to iOS and the Apple Watch. The Dexcom CGM tracks a person’s blood sugar level continuously. The app converts that data into a simple graph that is just a glance at the wrist away.
